Home Instead of Alone, Inc
The Place To Play While You're Away Personal In Home Boarding and Training
Thank you for considering us to board and or train your puppy/dog.
Your pet’s safety and comfort are the most important things to you, which make them of utmost importance to us.
Puppies/Dogs have a hard enough time watching the hustling and bustling of the family packing, something they do not understand at all. And let’s face it…even though we are excited about the upcoming vacation, WE have anxieties enough going away; flight time, hotel preparations, travel times, etc. This is something your animals pick up on, and they themselves become anxious and fearful.
Then they get up-rooted, and brought somewhere else…sometimes a place very unfamiliar to them, like a vet or a kennel, where they hear a ton of other dogs barking, as well as the constant smell of disinfectant. Then they get placed in a cage, walked a few times a day, played with for maybe an hour or two, and then put back in the cage for the night. And even in these fancy "resort pet hotels" they get a few hours to romp and play together, then they are put in their "room" where they are alone. A fancy bed to sleep on and toys to play with do not replace human love and contact.
And many places that offer in-home boarding have 10 or more dogs at the same time. How is it possible for them to get personalized attention and individual "mush-time" this way?
So with this unpleasant memory, they become even more stressed out and fearful, sometimes resulting in bad behaviors, such as sudden accidents in the house, constant barking, and even hiding.
Our passion and love for animals makes this a very hard reality to face for us. Which is the reason we decided long ago that pets should be able to feel just as excited as you are when the packing and bustling begin.
In my home...that is what they get...A HOME. If they are allowed to sleep on the bed with you at your house, that is perfectly okay here. There is only one house rule...HAVE FUN!!
My home is not full of fancy things, and couches and chairs are all fair game. I do my best to follow through with whatever it is you are doing at home. If you have a puppy, and are crate training, I have you write out the puppy’s basic training schedule, and continue what you are doing at home, so there is no break in training.
I will not take more than four dogs at a time, so they are promised fun interaction with each other, as well as the personal one-on-one lap and petting time they deserve, and get at your home. The only exception to this is if a family already has 5 or more dogs. Then of course, the entire "canine family" is welcome. They are monitored constantly and closely, and we all have a lot of fun.
Our back yard is fully fenced, so the little guys are just as safe as the big ones. And they are not just let out the back door; I go with them...rain or shine. I have even had some afraid of rain, and I will pick them up so they feel safe. In the winter we have sweaters and coats for those that get cold easily, and in the summer, a small child's plastic pool for them to jump in and out of to cool off.
